Biography

Hanaa has worked at University College London for over 10 years and is the laboratory manager at the EGA Institute for Women’s Health. Hanaa is responsible for ensuring that the workplace is compliant with current health and safety regulations, designing and reviewing safety policies as well as consulting with stakeholders, as necessary.

Hanaa also manages the Epilepsy Society Brain Bank at the Institute of Neurology at UCL. The Tissue Bank is the first of its kind in the UK and is dedicated to the study of epilepsy, by providing brain tissue (samples of the brain) for a wide range of epilepsy research projects.

Hanaa has spearheaded the campaign to reduce waste in laboratories in which her department achieved the highest award in the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework.

As a senior staff member from a BAME background tackling unconscious biases that can occur in the workplace has become a focus of hers. she aspires to inspire future generations and be the upstander to the emerging generation.
